TranslatorGuru is a real-time translator app with more than 4M+ downloads worldwide. It allows you to communicate freely anywhere in the world in over 100 languages. The application can easily translate text, voice conversations, anything via a camera. Even messages when chatting with foreigners using our keyboard extension.

My Contributions
After the first successful results with ScanGuru, we agreed to expand our product portfolio. I conducted in-depth market and competitors' research of different potential niches. Defined target audiences, core features for MVP, and monetization strategy. Led a cross-functional team to ensure a successful launch of a new product, applying our best practices. It helped to get successful product metrics since the start and grew from $0 to $3M+ ARR.

Raised Trial activation rate by 35% on the onboarding by introducing a new onboarding flow
The key to success was in visual consistency and sales copy. Fluid, cohesive user experience, wow design, and minimizing pain points in transition from onboarding to sale screen.
The flow was completely different from the one we considered "all-time best". So, if you think it's impossible to grow more, the right solution is yet to come.

It was initially tested on uScan and then demonstrated the same positive impact for 3 other mobile apps.

Increased subscribers' Retention by 20% through leading comprehensive UI/UX redesign, resulting in LTV and ROI uplift
Users were having trouble navigating through core flow. We suspected the problem with analytics and knew "What" was happening but didn't know "Why" it was happening. What's on customers' minds?
That's why I initiated a step-change shift from data-driven to a user-focused & data-informed approach. With the help of user interviews and extensive usability testing, the product team got a deep understanding of users' goals and pains. Comprehensive UI/UX redesign was comparable to a leap of faith, but we had to destroy good thing to build great thing.
Hypotheses were validated by a complex, long-running A/B test. Compound further analysis of key product metrics proved successful uplifts.
This approach was then implemented on 3 other applications with the same positive result.

Increased Long-term purchase share by 15-30% depending on the country by changing the visual hierarchy in pricing options
Changed the visual hierarchy on the existing sale screen to show the clear value of a long-term purchase compared to a free trial with a short-term subscription.

Covid impact and product positioning changes
Coronavirus outbreak had a vast socio-economic impact, especially on the travel industry. TranslatorGuru was also affected by covid in spring-summer 2020, as its main "job" was closely related to travel and social activities.
During that time, we changed the positioning, using "not meeting but chatting with people worldwide" as the main feature. It helped increase acquisition volume, but the previous level of earnings never returned.

Grew Revenue by helping to expand user acquisition volume via adding a new feature - Translator Keyboard
Translator Keyboard extension allows users to chat with people in foreign languages in any messengers. Easy and convenient. It's got a lot of love from users and higher retention compared to other features. Thereby marketing could reach a new large audience and increase an acquisition volume resulting in revenue growth.

Gained higher conversion rates and key product metrics by tuning up user funnels and improving core features
Improving camera translation, adding a build-in phrasebook, apple watch support, and more gave customers real value and helped us gain high activation and product usage metrics. As well as applying best practices to user funnels and sale screens enabled us to achieve great results at the beginning.

Led new product launch Worldwide from 0 to 1
Identified profitable niche by conducting in-depth market and competitors' research, comparing benchmarks, estimating unit economics, team capacity, and possible growth opportunities. The translation apps niche seems to be a good fit. After defining core features for MVP and monetization strategy, we launched a new product, applying our best practices.
